Early Life

I was born and raised in the small farming community of Colusa, Ca. During my childhood I enjoyed the outdoors. Fishing, hunting, and sports were the essentials for my friends and I. My Mom and Dad still live in Colusa, where my brother and his family also reside. It always brings back fond memories when we visit my family in my hometown.

Education

I graduated from Colusa High school in 2005. From there I went to College of the Redwoods to play basketball for a year, before ending up at Simpson University where I would finish off my Bachelors of Arts in History in 2010. Upon completion of my degree I immediately enrolled in the teacher credentialing program where I received my preliminary teaching credential. Later at Simpson, I would pursue my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership with a preliminary Administrative Services credential.

Professional Life

Once I completed my teacher credentialing I was hired as a 7th grade history and science teacher at Boulder Creek School. I taught for four years before assuming the role of assistant principal in 2014. I served for 4 years as an assistant principal at Boulder Creek which was a wonderful experience and a great community. In 2019 I moved onto become the principal at Alta Mesa Elementary school.

Personal Life

I am married to my wonderful wife Michelle, who also teaches in the Enterprise Elementary School District. In 2016 we welcomed our beautiful son Benjamin James Miller and in 2020 we had our daughter Eden Rose Miller. We love to be outdoors and hike around Northern California. We live in such a wonderful place that exploration of the natural world is a big part of our life. When I'm not at school or hiking with my family I also enjoy hunting, fly-fishing, photography, and biking.
